This opening is for postdoctoral researcher. The main theme of the work is biophysical transport inside cells. In addition, there’s opportunity to do theory of collective behavior of active particles – especially a type of particles called swarmalators – and its applications to collective animal behavior. There is plenty of opportunity to work closely with experimental colleagues on both subjects.

The ideal candidate will have experience in some combination of the following: experience of theoretical work with stochastic processes, including calculations of escape rates and mean first-passage times; experience with reaction-diffusion systems; background in nonlinear dynamics and/or pattern formation; background in nonequilibrium statistical physics; background knowledge of cellular biology. Experience in scientific computing is helpful.  These are preferences; if you're interested in applying ideas & techniques from physics or applied math to biological systems, please inquire.
